Croft Blue 1-1 Lydiard Millicent

The Blues found themselves pegged back at home against league leaders Lydiard Millicent, in a game that they can count themselves unlucky not to of taken all 3 points. Both teams started brightly, threatening each others goal, with Harry Woods have the boys’ best chance, forcing a stunning save out of the keeper with a header. Callum Hooper also then saw an effort denied. However just before half time, the boys did swing an even game in their favour, as Jack Cremin took advantage of some sloppy defending to poke in Woods’ cross from close range. Moving into the 2nd half, and as the league leaders began to press more, Croft hit on the counter attack and were denied a seemingly certain penalty as Luca Colucci went down in the box, only to have it waved away. Within minutes of this, Lydiard struck their equaliser, with their powerful central midfielder storming through and smashing past Tyler Affleck. Both teams could have won it towards the end with Colucci and Gerring going close for the Blues, AND Callum Hooper having a goal ruled out for offside. Disappointing not to see the win out, but with two games in hand and loads of games to go, this could be a huge point in the title race come the end of the season…
