Croft Blue 7-1 Ferndale Rodbourne

Croft stunned the league leaders with a display summed up in one word by a supporter watching on as “sparkling”. The boys were told to press high and not let the leaders out of their half, and deservedly went in front when Luca Colucci was played in, and he rounded the goalkeeper to score. Bikash Limbu added a second soon after, rounding off another flowing move. The boys let their opponents back into the game when the Ferndale full back got away from his marker to make it 2-1. However the boys stormed back into a 2 goal lead only seconds later, as Harry Woods slammed one into the top corner on the run. Further goals from Bikash put the boys well in the driving seat.

Despite some strong, borderline dirty play from the leaders, the boys kept their heads, and the midfield 3 supporting Bikash and Luca of Zac Brain, Sayam Thapa, and Woods himself were excellent. Then came arguably the goal of the season for 7-1. Once again, Limbu was fouled, this time around 30 yards from goal. He took the free kick himself and found the top corner. A goal that sums up the form of the player and the team right now. One of the other bright spots for Croft was the return to fitness of Finn Tremblen, out for nearly 3 months with a broken collarbone. The lads saw the game out, and you could feel at full time that the momentum is with this group of players right now, every single player came off grinning, and they have every right to be pleased at the moment…
