Croft ended their most successful season ever, finishing top of the league and now waiting on other results to decide if they’ll be first or second, after a polished second half performance in Ramsbury.
The boys were without their two top scorers Bikash Limbu and Luca Colucci, and started the game, almost with a promotion hangover and extremely complacently in a poor first half, in which Stan Banks goal was deservedly cancelled out by Ramsbury to go in at half time 1-1 (and fortunately so!!). After being reminded at half time the levels they have reached this season and that this was nowhere near, the boys came out with their usual high pressing game second half, with Callum Hooper and Banks now working much higher up the pitch. It paid off as Banks went through to score his second of the game, a great end to the season for him. Harry Woods then delivered a late contender for goal of the season with a beautiful free kick from 25 yards, before a miscued cross from Woods flew over an unfortunate goalkeeper. The fifth and final goal came after good work down the left from Jack Cremin, and he fed the ball inside to Finn Tremblen, who smashed in from the edge of the box.
The final whistle gave the boys what they had wanted since last week… The to celebrate by singing “We are going up” and the thrill of soaking Joe in bucks fizz (And even having a few cheeky swigs..). A lovely end of the season considering the work they have put in, 100% deserved. WE ARE GOING UP!!!
