Croft strolled into the last 16 of the County Cup after defeating Ramsbury in a fairly one sided game that summed up the boys’ form right now. The match came as a surprise to Joe, when he was told the players would be expected to compete 11 a side for the first time due to County Cup rules, so the boys set out in an unused 3-5-2 system. They soon found themselves ahead when Bikash Limbu volleyed in Harry Woods’ corner from near the line. It was soon two when Bikash turned provider, playing in Zac Brain who rounded the keeper before finishing a great team goal. The boy’s new number 19 took over as the half wore on, his pace, skill and power too much for Ramsbury despite the appalling pitch, and he added his second and the boys third just before the break.
The boys took their foot off the pedal second half at the beginning, allowing the hosts to score a fairly sloppy consolation at Alex Newton’s near post. Newton, playing his first game in goal this season as Tyler Affleck was rested, then made a superb triple save to knock the ball off the line 3 times in a row. As the game wore on, the boys took control again. Hugo Phillips, who had an excellent game in the centre of midfield put Bikash through again, but the big midfielder laid it on a plate for Luca Colucci to score his 10th of the season. Bikash didnt wait long for his 3rd however, opening up his legs to race clear of the defenders, round the goalkeeper and dink in number 5.
The boys have found the form that theyve been looking for. Another win, 3 league games before Christmas hopefully to come. On to the next one…
